Some Cross Stitch and Other Fun Stuff

Hello!

The last couple of weeks were quite busy with end of the school year activities. Now Brenda is home and will be another kind of busy...it will be fun!
I was able to finish some ornaments.  Here they are.

The June ornament from Lizzie Kate's  Flip It Stamps series.  It was stitched on 14 count Aida oatmeal with DMC floss. I made several color changes.

Recently I got a couple of new patterns from Creative Poppy.  This little swimming girl is part of "Happy Childhood - Seaside" from Perrette Samouiloff. I love her designs and it's such a treat to be able to buy them online and print at home. The Aida is really light blue, not white as it looks.
I made the ornament for Brenda to celebrate her swimming classes. Swimming is the only sport the doctor recommends for her, and she loves it!

These two ornaments I made a while ago and had not posted yet. The pattern is a freebie that I can't find the link now. I made the green and pink to give as a baby shower gift, but the blue and pink is mine. I just love it!
Now a little bit of sewing. We were invited to the wedding of a very sweet girl.

I made this casserole carrier  as her wedding gift.

Inside it, I put a Pyrex dish and a Gooseberry Patch cookbook.

And here is the picture of a little tea party we had for Brenda's birthday. It was sweet and simple, but fun. She loved it.

She got the gifts she wanted, and I made a couple of new things for her room. An origami dress garland for the bookcase, and a little bolster pillow. I love those origami dresses, they are just so cute and so girly, I will be making more soon!
That's all for now. Lots to do around here.
Have a great week!

Ana Paula.

Busy

Hello!
Not much stitching happening here. I have so much going on, including planning Brenda's birthday party next month.
But, I made a little progress on Miles.

Oi! Nao tenho bordado muito por aqui. Tenho tanta coisa acontecendo, inclusive planejando a festa de aniversario da Brenda no mes que vem.
Mas, eu fiz um pouco de progresso no Miles.

Some weeks ago I was able to get these. I always wanted some.

Algumas semanas atras eu consegui isso. Eu sempre quiz algumas.

Mason blue jars! These are the new limited edition. I'm so happy!
Had to cut some flowers. Nothing like daisies and lavender.

Mason Jars azuis. Essas sao da nova edicao limidata. Estou tao feliz!
Tinha que colher algumas flores. Nada como margaridas e lavanda.

And look what I got for mothers day!

E olha o que eu ganhei no dia das maes!

Lovely pink tulips.

Lindas tulipas cor de rosa.
And Little Red Riding Hood fabric !!! I am completely in love with it!

E pano da Chapeuzinho Vermelho!!! Estou completamente apaixonada por eles!

I also got Lavender Grace by Willow tree.  I love lavender and I love this figurine.
I need to start sewing for Brenda's birthday and making her gift. The time is flying!

Recently I made this casserole carrier for the Girls camp auction at church.

I am also making some small changes on Brenda's room. I got the cherry tree wall sticker on e-bay.

Eu tambem estou fazendo pequenas mudancas no quarto da Brenda. Eu comprei a cerejeira  adesivo para parede no e-bay.
I am making a new pillow and a magnet board. All this to give the "big girl" look.
Well, I have to go now, but need to post one more picture.

Estou fazendo uma nova almofada e um quadro magnetico. Tudo isso para parecer um quarto de menina crescida. Bom, tenho que ir agora, mas preciso postar  mais uma foto.

My Mother's Day Flan! My favorite Brazilian dessert.
Have a great weekend!

Meu pudim do dia das maes! Minha sobremesa Brasileira favorita.
Tenha um bom fim de semana!

Casserole Carrier

Hi!
I finally made my casserole carrier.
I did a lot of research on the web and found many nice ones.
After all of that, I came up with the style I think is the better for me.
If you look here you will find several  awesome styles to choose from.

Here  is how mine turned out.
I used a cotton print for the outside and plain red for the inside.  For padding I used cotton batting.
I decided to use red piping for contrast.

This is very simple pattern. just two padded rectangles that you sew together on the part where the bottom of the dish will be (that will give extra padding for hot dishes). You sew the handles on at the same time.
You will need Velcro to hold the parts closed when transporting. I think I am going to sew one more strip of Velcro on each side of mine. just to make sure it will hold well.
It is good to have  your dish on hand, so you can measure and make sure you have a good fit.
This is the tutorial I used for mine. I made some changes, but you get the idea. Hope this can help if you want to make one.
Talking about casserole dishes,  I found this one at Home Goods other day. My favorite store.

So pretty! My daughter said that it is too pretty to put on the oven.  I agree with her.
I love everything berries...so,  I couldn't  let this one pass.
Thanks for visiting!
Ana Paula.
