Summer

Hi!
Last weeks of summer vacation! I am busy sewing some new tops for Brenda wear at school.
Not pictures yet.
This summer I managed to finish some projects that were for a long time on my list.
This button monogram  was a WIP for quite sometime.

I am so happy I finally finished it.
The idea is not mine. I saw many online, and fell in love with these ones.
The buttons were sew on a piece of beige linen and I found what I think is the perfect frame at Salvation Army. I just love how it looks.
I also did a little knitting. Very little.

Miss American Girl Felicity got some new stuff.

I made her a shawl using some leftover yarn.

I also made her a couple of new dresses. This orange dress was made from a dress my sister sent to Brenda when she was about four years old.

This one is her new tea party dress.

And for Brenda I made three shorts from jeans using some cute trims I got on Etsy.

I also made her a Minion hat for her to wear to go see Despicable Me 2.

It was a long line, but it was worth it.
This year we stayed home, just doing some local things.

We had a picnic at the park to celebrate my husband's birthday.

A visit to San Diego to see the Grandparents.

We went to The OC County Fair and Brenda had a good time with the butterflies.

We went to the  Clans of the Highlands picnic and I baked a strawberry - cherry cobbler to take.

It was a fun day with Great Grandma, Grandpa , Aunt Pat and some friends.

And Brenda made some new friends.

Well, these are some of the things we did this summer.

I also baked this Plum upside down cake last week. It was so good!
Now, I just need to finish my sewing!

Have a great end of Summer!

A Finish !

Here he is! I finished Miles from Lizzie Kate. He is so handsome, don't you think?

I had a hard time choosing the fabric to finish it. I like this one, but is a little too busy.

The original finish from Lizzie Kate was a stuffed stand up. I was not sure that mine was going to turn out that nice.

I finally chose a brown fabric and finished it "cube style".

I stitched Miles on 14 aida oatmeal using DMC floss. I made several changes on the colors.

I also made changes regarding the button embellishments.  The button pack for the pilgrims is a bit pricey. To make it more affordable, I got only the most important buttons on e-bay. Took me I while to find the ones I wanted, but was worth it.

I just love how he looks. Now I am working on his friend Priscilla.

I want to finish her very soon. We will see.
Lots more going on here. I finished Brenda's magnet board.

I recycled an old frame painting it white. We got a metal sheet at Home Depot, and they were kind enough to cut it for us.
I covered the metal with home decor fabric from Joann.
I also made the lace magnets. Grandma Maddie gave Brenda the butterfly magnets.

And we finally did it! We got a KitchenAid mixer!

I have a friend who named her mixer. We decided to name ours too. Brenda picked the name:
Huckleberry! Now I need to make a cover for Huckleberry. I already pinned some ideas.
Another lovely thing I got.

This cute cart from Ikea is very handy, to organize my sewing stuff. When I am sewing, I just roll it to the kitchen.  It makes a big difference, having everything close by.
I have some other things to share, but I will save it for another post.
I wish you are enjoying your summer.

Have a wonderful week!
